Kia Carens Clavis Just Lunched – And It’s a Total Game Changer! latest MPV in 2025

Kia has unveiled the new Klavius, which is essentially an updated version of the Carens, but the Kia Carens Clavis suffix denotes a more premium positioning. However, the Carens, as we know it, will continue to be on sale.

And here is everything you need to know about the new Kia Carens Klavius. The styling is not too far from the Carens, with the Klavius featuring a similar silhouette. The dimensions see no change either.

What is new are the re-profiled LED headlamps low down on the bumper, with ice cube-shaped DRLs as you see on the Cross. The front and rear bumper design is more angular, and silver bash plates add some contrast.

The silhouette is unchanged from the Carens, but the Klavius gets new designed, dual tone, 17-inch alloy wheels. The rear is familiar, but the central LED light band is thicker in the middle.

What is Interior

On the inside, the overall layout of the Klavius is the same as the Carens, and both are available in six-seat and seven-seat configuration. There are updates to the seat upholstery and door trim, with lighter-colored materials.

The biggest changes compared to the Carens are upfront, as the Klavius features a dual screen setup like you see on the Seltos. It is essentially two 10.25-inch screens for instrument cluster and the touchscreen mainly.

The manual NIMT also get a dash cam as standard. Low down, the Klavius also features new design for the HVAC controls, AC vents, and shares its flat bottom steering with the Cross.

There is also a boss mode with a lever on the passenger seat to slide ahead, and the middle row can tumble down at the touch of a button.

In the range-topping Carens Klavius HTX form, the feature list includes a four-way power driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

An eight-speaker Bose audio system, connected car tech with a few remote functions, and a panoramic sunroof, to name a few.

Engine power

Compared to the Carens, the Klavius gets one additional engine and gearbox option.

Powering it are the 115 horsepower 1.5-liter petrol with a six-speed manual, the 160 horsepower 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine with a six-speed IMT and seven-speed DCT, a 116 horsepower 1.5-liter diesel with a six-speed manual and six-speed automatic.

And the new one is a six-speed manual option for the 160 horsepower turbo petrol unit.

What is the latest Price

Bookings will open at 25,000 rupees from 12:00 AM of the 9th of May. And considering the Carens is currently priced between 10.6 lag rupees to 19.7 lag rupees, the Klavius will cost a marginal premium.

This means that while the Klavius has no direct rivals in MPV guise, it will go against SUVs like the Hyundai Alcazar, Mahindra XUV700, and Mahindra Scorpio-N, to name a few.
